Gold and Stand Items are binding, but promising items in the bag are not binding. The players can bribe the Sheriff with gold, items from their stand (not including illegal items), or possibly items in the bag. The Sheriff can also "threaten" to look into a bag in order to get the player to persuade him not to. They can choose to open it, or they can choose not to open any of them. Inspection: The sheriff talks to each merchant and asks them what they have in their bag again. (For example, if I have 3 bread and 2 cheese in my bag, I could say I had 5 cheese, or 5 bread, or even 5 chickens). The second is that you must declare your goods as only 1 type of legal goods. The first is they can not lie about the number of goods in their bag (You can also figure this out by seeing how many cards they have in their hand). But there are two rules they have to follow. They can lie (and should lie if they have illegal goods) about what goods they have. The players are "locked in" when they click the snap on their bag and can not load or unload any more goods.ĭeclare Goods: Each player one by one tells the sheriff what they have in their bags. Load bags: Each player other than the sheriff loads their bags with anywhere from 1-5 cards. There are bonuses for the people who have the most and second most of each type of legal goods at the end of the game, and Illegal goods also count as more points at the end of the game. There are also 3 types of goods, Legal (Cheese, Chickens, Bread, and Apples), Illegal (Crossbows, Mead, Pepper, Silk, etc.) and Special Illegal Goods (ones that add bonuses for the end of the game scoring). This repeats until each player decides to either go to the market or pass. They can draw from either of the tops of the discard piles, and then the deck after, but as soon as they draw from the deck, they can't draw from anywhere else. They can set aside any number of cards in their hand, draw from either the discard pile or the top of the deck. Market: Starting with the player on the left of the sheriff, they can choose to go to the market. One Player (Chosen at random) is the Sheriff Then a few cards are put into one of two discard piles. They are out of the game (To prevent card counting). 10 Cards are removed from the deck face down. Setup: Each player starts with a hand of six cards and 50 gold. If the Sheriff guesses incorrectly, he suffers a penalty. They must declare what goods they have with them, and the sheriff can choose whether or not to inspect their bags. The Sheriff is the "gate keeper" into the town, when each of the merchants arrives to the town. One player is the Sheriff of Nottingham (it rotates each round), and the others are merchants trying to bring both legal and illegal goods into town. ![]() Overview : Sheriff of Nottingham is a game that takes place in the Robin Hood Universe.
